چکیده
Reversible solid oxide cells (r-SOCs) can be operated in either fuel cell or electrolysis mode. They are expected to become important the support of renewable energy due their high efficiency for both power generation and hydrogen generation. The exchange current density is one most parameters quantification electrode performance cells. In this study, four different electrodes two air fabricated using materials microstructures compared. temperature, humidification, oxygen concentration at varied obtain apparent materials. contrast ruthenium-and-gadolinia-doped ceria (Rh-GDC) as well nickel-and-gadolinia-doped (Ni-GDC) electrodes, significant differences were observed between modes nickel-scandia-stabilized zirconia (Ni-ScSZ) cermet. Variation gas revealed that surface adsorption sites almost completely vacant all these electrodes. densities obtained study useful a parameter simulation internal properties r-SOCs.

A new approach to microstructure optimization of solid oxide fuel cell electrodes
Designing optimal microstructures for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) electrodes is complicated due to the multitude of electro-chemo-physical phenomena taking place simultaneously that directly affect working conditions of a SOFC electrode and its performance. In this study, a new design paradigm is presented to obtain a balance between electrochemical sites in the form of triple phase boundary (...

an analytical model is proposed and an analysis is conducted for solid oxide fuel cells with goals of higher power densities. the analytical model is designed to help optimize the size, spacing, and geome-trical shapes of current collectors. the model fully considers the ohmic, species concentration, and activa-tion polarizations. from the analysis of several cases, it is recommended that 3d pi...
متن کاملIn Situ X-ray and Electrochemical Studies of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell / Electrolyzer Oxygen Electrodes
The governing reaction mechanisms, and the electrode material compositions and structures, that controls the efficiency of the solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) need to be identified and well-understood for significant technological improvements. Our study on the oxygen electrodes focuses on specifically the effect of electrode crystal structure and morphol...
متن کاملIn Situ Synchrotron X-ray Spectroscopy of Lanthanum Manganite Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Electrodes
We investigated the underlying physical and chemical causes of the improvement of electrochemical activity of the cathode in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) under long term cathodic or anodic polarization, termed ‘current conditioning’, through in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The electrodes were powder La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 (LSM) made with glycine-nitrate process and thin films of LSM and L...
متن کاملInvestigation of surface Sr segregation in model thin film solid oxide fuel cell perovskite electrodes
While SOFC perovskite oxide cathodes have been the subject of numerous studies, the critical factors governing their kinetic behavior have remained poorly understood. This has been due to a number of factors including the morphological complexity of the electrode and the electrodeelectrolyte interface as well as the evolution of the surface chemistry with varying operating conditions. In this w...
